Informing People, Transforming Lives
The journey of Zomi Association of Malaysia
Zomi Association of Malaysia (ZAM) was established in 2006 to address the growing needs of Zomi refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia. As a registered non-profit organization, ZAM works in close collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), local NGOs, and international humanitarian organizations.
Our organization primarily serves Zomi people from the Chin State of Myanmar who have fled persecution, political instability, and human rights violations. Many arrive in Malaysia with little more than the clothes on their backs, facing language barriers, legal challenges, and limited access to essential services.
Through our dedicated team of volunteers and staff, ZAM has grown to support over 1,000 refugees annually, providing critical services from healthcare assistance and education to employment coordination and social welfare.
Key milestones in our journey
