Informing People, Transforming Lives
Providing essential medical assistance to the Zomi community
The Healthcare Department of Zomi Association of Malaysia is dedicated to ensuring that Zomi refugees have access to essential medical services despite the challenges they face in a foreign healthcare system. Our mission is to bridge the gap between refugees and healthcare providers, overcoming language barriers and financial constraints to ensure everyone receives the care they need.
With limited access to public healthcare and financial constraints, many refugees struggle to obtain adequate medical treatment. Our department works to address these challenges through translation services, hospital accompaniment, emergency medical assistance, and health education.
The Healthcare Department was established in 2008 in response to growing medical needs within the community. What began as an informal network of translators has evolved into a structured department with dedicated volunteers, partnerships with local healthcare providers, and comprehensive support systems.
Over the years, we have assisted thousands of refugees with medical emergencies, chronic conditions, maternity care, and preventive health services. Our experienced team understands both the Malaysian healthcare system and the unique challenges faced by refugees.

For refugees facing financial barriers to healthcare, we provide limited financial assistance for essential medical treatments, working with hospitals to arrange payment plans or discounts when possible.
We organize regular health screening clinics in collaboration with volunteer doctors and healthcare organizations, bringing basic healthcare services directly to the community.
We provide specialized support for pregnant women and children, ensuring they receive proper prenatal care, vaccinations, and pediatric
